Now there’s a new way to download and experience music: easy, value priced and flexible
Dada’s social music community now offers a unique collection of songs downloadable on all handheld devices and available in MP3 format, from an extensive catalogue of major music companies and independent labels in a 2.0 perspective
Florence, June 9th, 2008 – Dada adds music to its online community and positions itself as a major player in the digital entertainment sector.
Dada’s expertise in the web and mobile sectors ensures its new digital offering will be truly innovative and comprehensive: quality music content that can be downloaded legally from a vast catalogue, on a well-established online community where users can personalize their “Emotional Network”.
IThe digital offering is characterized by an extremely user-friendly interface and interoperability with all handheld devices, dual delivered to both PC and mobile handsets with no additional cost to the existing subscription fee.
Quality Content
Through agreements with Sony Bmg Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and The Orchard (the largest aggregator of independent music labels), Dada’s music library is now available. At the heart of Dada’s online community, a place where young people and artists can express themselves, share their music passions and experience a unique online social network, the music library will be regularly updated with new songs that can be downloaded in a fast and easy way without DRM in MP3 format.
Dada’s music store enables music companies to make their digital content – including MP3s, videos, and artist news – available to the online community on the artist’s personal space. Music companies will share in revenues generated from the subscription fee and from advertising on artist pages.
Emotional Network
With Dada – The Music Movement, users can create a personal space where they can share their music experiences, discover fresh talent and enhance their “Emotional Network” through interaction with other users who share similar passions and tastes. The emotional network is a playground for personal expression.
Music companies will work together with Dada to boost the music content across the network, including songs available to stream, artist images, videos and news, personalized playlists, and “sound moods” that become ringback tones. With Dada, loving music just got better.
Interoperability
The music store is a new way to completely experience music: flexible methods of accessing songs, giving unlimited use to subscribers’ handheld devices and without limiting the number of computers onto which the songs can be downloaded or played. All songs in MP3 format can be played on any computer, mobile phone, iPod or any other type of digital music player.
The dual delivery system ensures that downloads made directly to mobile phones will be optimized for mobile phone use and forward locked. Downloads made to PCs will be in a larger MP3 file format.
Competitive Offer
The services available, which already include a rich “bouquet” of infotainment and entertainment content, are further enhanced by the addition of digital music. The price and mobile billing system remain the same. Dada’s subscription offer, open to all Italian mobile phone and PC users costs just €3.00 Euros per week and includes 7 credits that can be used to download up to 7 MP3 Music, Music Videos and many other digital entertainment contents.
“Dada has once again proved to be quick in foreseeing the trends and needs of Internet users. Starting today, thanks to the Music Store, users can talk about music and download music at the same time in an easy, flexible and legal way. The social music community is the logical evolution and natural completion of Dada’s offer, thanks to an innovative and unique product. Internet users remain the center of the Net, a Net that is increasing built around music both via web and mobile: this launch represents one of the most important challenges that Dada has ever faced. We are entering a market with extremely high potential for growth, but at the same time one of the most complex markets that the Net has created” - commented Paolo Barberis, President and Founder of Dada.
"Following the launch of the service in the US by Dada Entertainment, the JV signed last year with Sony BMG, starting today it will be easier and more convenient for Italian users to buy digital music. The Dada Music Movement is a community built around music with tracks from thousands of artists – from the newest hits by the most famous artists to niche bands, from classic rock hits to jazz and pop. These tracks can be listened to, downloaded, and shared with friends - stated Marco Argenti, Managing Director of Dada.net - "In a market where digital music consumption is constantly growing, we offer a convenient, simple and intuitive offering giving people a way to download high-quality DRM-free music in MP3 format, music that you can use on your mobile phone, computer, or MP3 player, etc.".
Andrea Rosi, Senior Vice President and General Manager BMG & Ricordi Labels, Sony Bmg Italy, "Sony BMG felt very strongly about reaching this agreement, which represents an essential departure point for the development of the digital music market. We are counting on the commitment of Dada and the RCS Group to help the legal music market grow through an innovative offer that responds to the needs of music fans. Sony BMG chose Dada in Italy as the first experiment of this type in Europe and we are counting on the success of the initiative.".
Salvatore Monteleone, Vice President, Business Development, Warner Music Italia, "This broad partnership with a quality, forward-looking partner will play a crucial role in our digital business strategy in Italy. It will enable us to monetize a wide variety of our digital content, offer powerful promotional opportunities on Dada's growing community platform and continue to deepen the relationship between our artists and music fans.".
Dada started in January 1995 with the aim of creating a virtual and interactive city where people could use the net in an innovative way; where internet users could find space to develop their interests. In 1999 superEva soon became one of Italy’s leading portals thanks to the number of users and traffic generated. In 2006 the group launched Dada.net, the community that today offers 12 million people in more than 40 countries the chance to express themselves, have fun and make new friends via web and via mobile.
