With the domain .asia, Register.it opens up the largest and most dynamic market in the world to both companies and individuals
Thanks to Register.it, the only Italian Registrar accredited by the local Authority, Asia (including Australia and New Zealand) will finally have its own domain extension.
Milan, February 18, 2008 – Register.it, a Dada Group company and global leader in the supply of essential Internet services such as domains, e-mail, and hosting, announced that Wednesday February 20 will be the start of the “land rush” period, when Italian individuals and companies with a local contact in Asia, Australia or New Zealand, can request a .asia domain. Register.it makes its local contact available for individuals and companies so that even those without a local contact in Asia can register a .asia domain. All requests will be followed by checks in order to verify that all the necessary requisites are in place: in case there is more than one request for the same name, an auction will be held.
During the “Sunrise” phase, which ended on January 31, the DotAsia Organization received 30,780 registration requests. The number of registration requests that Register.it expects to receive in the near future looks very positive. Register.it has already registered numerous domains for top Italian companies already well-established in Asia.
The DotAsia Organization is a non-profit group based in Hong Kong. Its aim is to develop a commercial, political and cultural network for all companies that operate in and around Asia. The domain .asia was created to promote visibility on the internet for people and companies operating in the region, increase the user’s choice of domain names and promote the development of e-business in the Asian and Pacific region.
“In a constantly evolving market, such as the Asian market, where 95% of the region’s population is expected to be connected to the internet by 2010, Register.it is the only Italian registrar and among the few European registrars, to offer in Italy, in Spain (through Nominalia) and in the UK (through Namesco) the possibility for companies and individuals to register a .asia domain” says Claudio Corbetta, Managing Director of DadaPro. “Companies and individuals will have the opportunity to increase their visibility on the Asian market” Corbetta affirms.
The “land rush” will end on March 12, 2008. The second phase, referred to as “GoLive”, will start on March 26, during which all requests will be evaluated on a “first come first serve” basis.
