Splinder and Ca' Foscari University in Venice: a bridge between University and bloggers

Splinder, the largest blogging community in Italy, and Ca’ Foscari University are working together at a project that aims to compare, on the basis of current topics, the world of University Research and the world of bloggers

Milan, October 3rd 2007 – Splinder, the largest blogging community in Italy, in collaboration with Ca’ Foscari Univesity in Venice and the Centre of Excellence for didactic Research and Advanced Education, will collaborate at the project called Ibrid@menti, an experimental laboratory which will start up a virtual face to face between the University and the Splinder bloggers.

University and bloggers will virtually meet on Ibrid@menti (http://ibridamenti.splinder.com), hosted by Splinder and coordinated by Ca’ Foscari’s School of Ph.D. in Science of Language, Cognition and Education.

The aim of the project is to create a bridge between these two worlds using a common and shared space in which bloggers and University researchers can interact on current topics regarding the Web. Topics include politics, communication, writing, identity, etc, and their relationship with the world of bloggers. The first topic will be “The ascent of bloggers. The art of connection in the virtual world”. The first proposal is to start up qualitative researches to discover in what way single bloggers are able to obtain other people’s attention: which are the “arts of connection” that make their blog original and attractive.

Alongside Ibrid@menti, there is also the birth of a new editorial book series which will publish, on printed paper, simple monographies, assigned to different authors each time, chosen among the blog’s participants.
These books will originate directly from the Web thanks to a new shared way of content creation and aggregation: a practical application of a collaborative generated content approach.

The project Ibrid@menti will be coordinated by Umberto Margiotta, Professor of Pedagogy at Ca’ Foscari’s University in Venice, with the collaboration of Mario Galzigna, Maria Mapelli, William Nessuno and Splinder’s team.
