Dada reaches an agreement with Universal Music and offers a promotion of free and unlimited streaming of its entire catalogue
Dada
- The Music Movement is the first and only music store where Italian
users can find DRM-free music in Mp3 format by Universal artists
Florence, December 10, 2008
- The Universal Music Group (UMG), the largest record company in the
world and an international leader in terms of revenues (the Group's
market share was 28.8% in 2007), has just made its digital music
catalogue available on Dada - The Music Movement (www.dada.it).
Universal Music is the last of the "Big four" in the world music
marketplace to choose Dada to distribute its artists (including Amy
Winehouse, U2, Jovanotti, Anastacia, Metallica etc.) in Italy, offering
high-quality Mp3s without Digital Rights Management protection
(DRM-free): this means that users can copy, transfer and play the music
without any restrictions on their computers, cell phones, iPods, iPhone
and all other kinds of digital music players.
"Universal Music's choice to market their catalogue without DRM protection" - stated Fabio Riveruzzi from the Digital Division of Universal Music Italy -
"found
an excellent proposal with the Dada Music Movement project...this is an
excellent way to offer everyone quality music from Universal's
catalogue in a safe and legal way.
With
300,000 tracks enjoyed by users every month and a catalogue of more
than 2 million licensed songs, to which Universal's 200,000 songs will
be added, Dada confirms itself as one of the most avant-garde products
in the digital music panorama.
With the completion of agreements with all the major record labels
(Universal, Emi, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group)
and with The Orchard, the largest aggregator of independent labels,
Dada is currently offering a promotion that allows users free and
unlimited access to full-streaming of the entire catalogue: this means
that all visitors, including those who are not registered, can listen
to the full-track version of songs.
"Once
again Dada offers an interactive experience built around quality music:
The Music Movement is the only store in Europe offering non-registered
users free and unlimited access to full-streaming of songs from the
majors" - stated Paolo Barberis, Dada President and Founder -
"We are very proud that Universal chose to join our business model and distribute DRM-free music with us".
The Offer
Dada's highly-competitive and unique offer thanks to exclusive content
created especially for the community, is a subscription service.
Billing is either through the user's mobile (in which case the user can
download Mp3s onto both a PC and a mobile phone) or by credit card. In
both cases the offer ranges from €3.00 per week for 7 tokens (€0.43 per
song) for subscription through mobile, to €9.90 per month for 30 Mp3s
(€0.33 per song) for payment by credit card.
